People – Experience
Graduating from the most prestigious law school in the country does not guarantee the most successful attorney. Signing the best free agents or having the highest payroll in sports does not ensure a winning season. Having the fastest hardware, the most advanced data processing software or a state of the art network does not guarantee flawless deliverables in the world of litigation support. People make the difference.
LightSpeed has very patiently and thoughtfully gathered a mix of 15+ year veterans and young IT phenoms to make up our back office E-Discovery department. We start by looking for desire, experience and a team-mentality and finish with time management at the highest level mixed with problem solving skills and top notch creativity. As you can imagine it is not an average group of folks we have on our team. We are very proud of their commitment to accuracy, deadlines, and client focus.
Processing Capabilities - Dual Quad Core
Our Dual Quad Core Blade servers provide an unequalled combination of performance, power savings and flexibility.
The advantages of Blade technology are:
- They use less power for the same amount of processing — 20 percent greater performance per watt or more when compared to rack servers. They help us reduce ever-growing power costs and implementing green IT initiatives.
- They do more in less space.
- They allow for ease of processing and network management to focus more resources on our core services of Collection, Processing, Hosting, and Production.
- High-density server solutions let us do more with less — more processing with less space and power and fewer resources.
- They maximize the use of space for processing muscle
Network Pathways - Cat 6
Why did we upgrade our networking cabling from the more traditional Cat 5 to the best-in-class Cat 6? When we need to meet the high demands of data processing in the ever tightening deadline driven world of litigation support, we need to maximize the speed that our data moves across the network. If we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to insure we have excessively powerful hardware to process data and state of the art storage array to distribute data resources at maximum optimization, it only makes sense that we would address the conduits that data passes through with the same pragmatic desire for excellence.
With Cat 6 cabling we employ the highest standard for Ethernet networking traffic available in the market today. Do we need to be able to have data travel at 100MB per second every hour of everyday? Not really, though we push those limits on a weekly basis to meet the ever increasing demands of E-Discovery Data Processing. We would rather the data quantity or the deadline be the challenge, rather than the hardware we can task to process it.
Storage Array - BlueArc
With the amount of data associated to each matter accelerating at an enormous rate, addressing the fastest and most efficient means to get data in, processed, and delivered to our legal clientele has become an increasingly important objective. BlueArc is the next generation of intelligent platforms for file services designed to meet the requirements of today's sophisticated enterprise data centers and high performance applications with new levels of storage performance, scalability and reliability. With BlueArc's dedicated non-intrusive backup and replication technology, we experience uninterrupted high-speed access to the data. This translates to LightSpeed’s ability to process data quicker, thus either meet a greater demand for data processed in a narrow time period and/or apply more time to a multi-layered QC of the deliverable.
With our BlueArc storage array, we can initiate over 60,000 user sessions and thousands of compute nodes to be served concurrently, while maintaining data access at dramatically higher rates than those found in traditional network attached storage systems. This allows us to allocate resources wherever needed to meet deadlines inherent to litigation support, such as those that fall outside of a FIFO workflow.
